Head of Equity Sales and Trading for one of the leading Russian bank
Our client was one of the leading Russian banks that provided tailor-made services for its clients in the fields of corporate finance, capital markets and asset management. The Bank had been strengthening its market position through launching and developing new products. The Board decided to strengthen the investment banking block of their business and to expand the team with a priority on international expertise.
The Bank wanted to bring on a senior capital market executive as Head of Equity Sales and Trading to take on the responsibility for managing international policy in this field. The role involved creating a strategy for the international dimension, business plans, clients and distribution policy, and team recruiting and building. In addition to the professional experience that a candidate would need to posses, the client also wanted him to have an excellent network in global financial institutions and be familiar with the Russian corporate environment.
In this context, Board Solutions launched a search for a Head of Equity Sales and Trading. The main goal for the selected candidate would be to develop and implement a strong market strategy which could compete with global investment banks present in the Russian market.
Candidates for the role had to be investment banking executives with strong international experience both in developed and emerging markets (including Russia). In the course of their business careers they would have been actively involved in sales and trading management, marketing policy, and operations. Candidates would also have to speak Russian.
Our search efforts focused on the global banks active in Russia, the UK and the US.
The assignment was successfully completed with the hiring of a Russian executive who had been based in London for the last 6 years and had good experience in cooperating with international and Russian banks.
